In a large pan, cook the chicken until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.

In the same pan, sauté the onions and garlic until softened.

Add the spices (cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, coriander, cumin, paprika, black pepper, and salt) to the pan and cook for another minute.

Return the chicken to the pan and add enough water to cover. Simmer for 30 minutes.

Remove the chicken from the pan and shred it into small pieces.

In a separate pan, toast the almonds until golden brown. Remove from heat and chop them.

Layer the phyllo pastry sheets in a greased baking dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
