Mooncakes are traditionally eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival in China to celebrate the harvest moon.

This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 210 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 7.

  1. Mix the lotus seed paste, golden syrup, and cooking oil in a bowl.
  2. Add the cake flour and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into small portions and wrap each portion around a salted egg yolk and some melon seeds.
  4. Place the mooncakes on a baking tray and brush with egg wash.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Allow the mooncakes to cool and rest for 2 hours before serving.
