  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually stir in milk.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
  4. In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks slightly. Gradually stir in 1 cup of the hot mixture into the egg yolks.
  5. Return the egg yolk mixture back to the saucepan and cook for 1 more minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract until the butter is melted.
  7. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  8. Allow the pie to cool for 2 hours, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  9. Serve with whipped cream and chocolate shavings on top.
