Molten Lava Cakes are also known as Chocolate Lava Cakes or Chocolate Fondant. They became popular in the 1980s and are loved for their rich, gooey chocolate center.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease and flour four 6-ounce (170g) ramekins.

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate together in the microwave, stirring occasionally.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar and egg mixture, whisking until well combined.

Sift in the flour and salt, and gently fold until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.

Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges have set but the center is still slightly jiggly.

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the ramekins for 3 minutes.

Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and let the cakes slide out.
