Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • 1/2 cup Hot water
  • For serving Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) square baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the molasses.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the hot water. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Serve the moist gingerbread cake with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
