Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar mixture, stirring until well combined. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and fold gently until just combined. Pour the batter into a greased and lined baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, dust with cocoa powder or powdered sugar, if desired. Enjoy!
