Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup Cake Flour
  • 3 tablespoon Cocoa Powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 6 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 0.5 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 0.25 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 cup Whipped Cream
  • as needed for garnish Chocolate Shavings
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the cake flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the vegetable oil and vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture, and mix well.
  5. In another bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the egg white mixture into the egg yolk mixture.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, and fold until well combined.
  8. Pour the batter onto a lined baking sheet, and spread it evenly.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove the cake from the oven, and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  11. Dust a clean kitchen towel with powdered sugar, and carefully invert the cake onto the towel.
  12. Roll the cake tightly with the towel, and let it cool completely.
  13. Unroll the cake, and spread whipped cream evenly over the surface.
  14. Carefully roll the cake back up, and transfer it to a serving platter.
  15. Garnish with chocolate shavings.
  16. Slice and serve.
