Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and egg.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together.
  8. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges.
  9. Transfer the scones to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. While the scones are cooling, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
