Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the chopped pecans.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and egg.
-
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together.
-
Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the circle into 8 wedges.
-
Transfer the scones to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
-
While the scones are cooling, make the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones.
-
Serve and enjoy!
