Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and maple syrup until well combined. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan.

Peel and slice the pears, then arrange them in a single layer on top of the maple syrup mixture.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vanilla extract, and eggs. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Pour the batter over the pears in the cake pan, spreading it evenly.
