  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, eggs, butter, and 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. In a separate mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and remaining teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice. Mix until well combined.
