Ingredients
  • 200 gram Butter
  • 200 gram Granulated sugar
  • 4 unit Eggs
  • 2 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 200 gram Plain flour
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 tablespoon Poppy seeds
  • 4 tablespoon Milk
  • 100 gram Icing sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a loaf tin.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the lemon zest and juice.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and poppy seeds.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. While the cake is still warm, make the drizzle by mixing the lemon juice and icing sugar together.
  9. Prick holes all over the top of the cake with a skewer and pour the drizzle over.
  10. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
