  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, and chopped basil leaves until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
