  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out one of the pie crusts and place it into a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  6. Cut the butter into small pieces and scatter them over the apple filling.
  7. Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into strips.
  8. Create a lattice pattern on top of the pie by weaving the strips over and under each other.
  9. Trim off any excess pie crust and crimp the edges.
  10. In a small bowl, beat the egg with water to create an egg wash.
  11. Brush the egg wash over the lattice crust.
  12. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  13. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  14. Serve the lattice apple pie warm or at room temperature.
