Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, turmeric powder, and salt for the pastry. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water and mix until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, garlic, Scotch bonnet pepper, thyme, curry powder, allspice, salt, and black pepper over medium heat until the beef is browned. Stir in the beef broth and bread crumbs. Cook for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the pastry dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a round cookie cutter or a small bowl.
  4. Place a spoonful of the beef filling onto one half of each pastry circle. Fold the other half over to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal and crimp with a fork.
  5. Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with beaten egg. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Allow the patties to rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
