Ingredients
  • 500 gram Ground Beef
  • 1 piece Onion
  • 2 clove Garlic
  • 2 piece Carrot
  • 2 piece Celery Stalk
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato Paste
  • 200 milliliter Red Wine
  • 500 milliliter Beef Stock
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 kilogram Potatoes
  • 50 gram Butter
  • 100 milliliter Milk
  • 100 gram Grated Parmesan Cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery until they are softened.
  4. Add the ground beef back to the skillet and stir in the tomato paste, red wine, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, rosemary, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  5. Simmer the mixture for 15 minutes until the liquid has reduced.
  6. While the ragu is simmering, peel and boil the potatoes until they are tender.
  7. Drain the potatoes and mash them with butter, milk, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  8. Transfer the ragu to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow the pie to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
