Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, prepare the pomegranate sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the pomegranate juice and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.
