  3. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until smooth.
  5. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread with a layer of cream cheese frosting. Repeat with the remaining cake layers and frosting. Decorate as desired.
