Hot Cross Buns
Hot Cross Buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday in many countries as a symbol of the crucifixion.

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Add butter and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix well.

Stir in raisins and milk to form a soft dough.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place them on a greased baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, lemon juice, and water to make a glaze.

Use a piping bag or a ziplock bag with a small corner snipped off to pipe a cross shape on top of each bun.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the buns cool on a wire rack.

Once cooled, drizzle the glaze over the buns in the shape of the cross.
