Honey bun cake gets its name from its resemblance to a honey bun pastry, but in cake form.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream. Mix until just combined.

In a separate small bowl, mix together brown sugar, pecans, and honey.

Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the pecan mixture evenly over the batter. Top with the remaining batter, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
