  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Once the cake has cooled slightly, poke holes all over the top using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  6. Pour the chocolate pudding mixture over the cake, making sure it fills the holes.
  7. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the powdered sugar until smooth.
  8. Pour the butter mixture over the pudding layer, spreading it evenly.
  9. Allow the cake to cool completely, then spread the whipped topping over the top.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Enjoy!
