  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the dried cherries and chocolate chips.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, vanilla extract, and egg.
  6. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times to bring it together.
  8. Roll the dough out to a 1-inch thickness and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out scones. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops of the scones with a little bit of heavy cream.
