Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mash the ripe bananas. Add maple syrup, almond milk, vanilla extract, and apple cider vinegar. Mix well.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.

Fold in the dark chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.

Grease a round cake pan and pour the batter into it. Smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 15 minutes.

Transfer the cake to a wire rack and let it cool completely.
