  2. Crush 12 Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix the crushed Oreo cookies with melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9-inch springform pan.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crust in the springform pan.
  5. In a separate bowl, prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Stir in black gel food coloring until well combined. Pour the cake batter over the cream cheese layer.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes, then remove the sides of the springform pan and let it cool completely.
  7. Once the cake has cooled, decorate the top with the remaining Oreo cookies, sticking them into the cake to resemble spider legs. Add plastic spider rings for extra decoration.
