Green Velvet Cake

Green velvet cake is a variation of the popular red velvet cake, but with a unique green color.
This is vegetarian recipe. Dish can be prepared in 115 minutes. Recipe requires some culinary experience (medium difficulty). Number of ingredients: 15.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, green food coloring, vanilla extract, and white vinegar.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.

Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of cream cheese frosting on top.

Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides with the remaining cream cheese frosting.

Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
