  4. Place a layer of green tomato slices in the pie crust.
  5. Sprinkle a portion of the sugar mixture over the tomatoes.
  6. Repeat the layers until all the tomatoes and sugar mixture are used.
  7. Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  8. Cover the pie with the second pie crust and seal the edges.
  9. Make a few slits on the top crust for steam to escape.
