Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and matcha green tea powder.
  3. Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the amanatto.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle.
  7. Use a sharp knife or a round cookie cutter to cut the dough into 8 equal wedges.
  8. Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet and brush the tops with a little heavy cream.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before serving.
