Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish.

In a large bowl, mix together the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.

Cut the butter into small pieces and scatter them over the apple mixture.

Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the apple filling.

Press the edges of the crust together to seal.

Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
