Golden Pound Cake
The name ‘Pound Cake’ comes from the traditional recipe which originally called for a pound each of flour, butter, sugar, and eggs.

Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
