  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  6. In a separate bowl, cream together the remaining butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with the milk.
  9. Pour the batter over the apple slices in the cake pan.
