  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, ground ginger, and ground cinnamon.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.
  4. Pour the butter and sugar mixture into the greased cake pan, spreading it evenly.
  5. Place the pineapple rings on top of the butter and sugar mixture.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the lime zest and granulated sugar. Rub the mixture with your fingers to release the lime oils.
  7. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs, vanilla extract, and lime-sugar mixture until well combined.
  8. Gradually add the flour mixture and buttermilk to the egg mixture, alternating between the two.
  9. Stir in the pineapple juice and lime juice.
  10. Pour the batter over the pineapple rings in the cake pan.
