Fried Pear Pies
Fried pies have been a popular dessert in the southern United States for many years, often filled with fruit or sweet fillings.

Peel and core the pears, then slice them into thin rounds.

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add the cold water, mixing until the dough comes together.

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a circle.

Place a few pear slices onto one half of each dough circle.

Fold the other half of the dough over the pears and press the edges to seal.

Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.

Fry the pies in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
