  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  2. Arrange the apricot slices in the bottom of the pan.
  3. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over low heat until smooth. Pour the mixture over the apricots.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. In another bowl, beat the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk to the egg mixture, alternating between the two.
  7. Pour the batter over the apricots in the cake pan.
  8. Bake for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it rest in the pan for 10 minutes.
  10. Invert the cake onto a serving plate and let it cool completely.
