  2. In a medium bowl, combine the pie crust ingredients and press into a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  5. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  6. Add the eggs, one at a time, to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition.
  7. Gradually add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, beating until smooth and creamy.
  8. Pour the filling into the cooled pie crust and smooth the top.
  9. Place the pie in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  10. Before serving, top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
