  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  5. Sift in the cocoa powder and salt, and fold until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cakes rest in the ramekins for 5 minutes.
  9. Carefully invert the ramekins onto serving plates and gently tap to release the cakes.
  10. Serve immediately, optionally with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of ice cream.
