Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup Hazelnuts
  • 1 cup Semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Whipped cream (optional)
  • as needed Hazelnuts (for garnish)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  2. In a food processor, grind the hazelnuts until finely chopped.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined. Add the melted chocolate mixture and whisk until smooth.
  5. Add the ground hazelnuts, cocoa powder, and salt to the mixing bowl. Stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, remove the parchment paper from the bottom of the cake.
  10. Serve the cake with whipped cream and garnish with hazelnuts, if desired.
