Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pan of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

Gradually pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly until smooth.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, refrigerate the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving.
