Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 peeled, cored, and sliced Pears
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • optional for dusting Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just blended.
  5. Toss the sliced pears with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  6. Spread half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Arrange the sliced pears over the batter. Top with the remaining batter, spreading it evenly over the pears.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
