Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a separate bowl, mix together the coconut milk, coconut oil, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and apple cider vinegar.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.

Pour the batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Meanwhile, prepare the bittersweet icing by melting the vegan dark chocolate and vegan butter in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth.

Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and plant-based milk until well combined.

Once the cake has cooled, spread the bittersweet icing evenly over the top.

Allow the icing to set for at least 1 hour before serving.
