Shepherd’s Pie is traditionally made with lamb, but in Egyptian cuisine, it is commonly prepared with ground beef.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste, ground cumin, ground coriander, cayenne pepper, frozen peas and carrots, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. In a separate pot, boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk.
  6. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
