Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH for 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

Stir sugar into chocolate mixture until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating with electric mixer on low speed after each addition until well blended. Add vanilla extract.

Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in separate bowl. Add to chocolate mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating until well blended after each addition.

Pour boiling water slowly into batter, stirring until well blended. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans.

Bake 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely on wire racks.
