  2. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Add the sliced apples and lemon juice to the bowl and toss until well coated.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  7. Dot the top of the pie with small pieces of butter.
  8. Cover the pie with the second pie crust and seal the edges.
  9. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  10. Brush the top crust with beaten egg.
  11. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
