Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F). Grease and line a 20cm (8in) round cake tin.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Sift in the flour and baking powder, then fold in the ground almonds.

Stir in the mixed dried fruit, orange zest, and orange juice.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and smooth the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small saucepan, heat the apricot jam and marmalade until melted and smooth.

Brush the hot marmalade sauce over the top of the cooled cake.
