Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a small saucepan, heat the dark chocolate and heavy cream over low heat until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.

Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar until well combined.

Pour the chocolate ganache over the cooled cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
