Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Fold in the pureed strawberries.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a separate bowl, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and heavy cream until smooth and creamy.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of the cream cheese frosting on top. Add a layer of sliced strawberries. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining cream cheese frosting.

Decorate with additional sliced strawberries, if desired.
