In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the eggnog. Stir in the rum.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
