  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the dates and boiling water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the soaked dates and chopped walnuts.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  11. Transfer the loaf cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  12. Slice and serve.
