  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar and egg mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, frost the cake with whipped cream and top with fresh berries.
