  2. Melt the dark chocolate and butter in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring until well combined.
  5. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to the chocolate mixture, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract.
