Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and vanilla extract. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture and stir until well combined.

Press half of the crumb mixture into the prepared baking pan. Spread the pear preserves evenly over the crumb layer. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the preserves.

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle the mixture over the top of the crumb layer.

Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
