  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, butter, baking powder, and salt. Mix until crumbly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over the batter. Repeat with the remaining batter and brown sugar mixture.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
